theOBRAwebsite is Back!

Posted by: Administrator in News

We do apologize for a month of downtime. Finally, theOBRAwebsite is now migrated to a new dedicated server as opposed to the free server.

Pinoy Artist Network on its version 4.0, the looks of the site is still the same, but the layout of the content and the whole construction of the site is changed. With countless brainstorming and debates, what you see now is the productive output. We are hearing your suggestions! This is to simplify the complexity of theOBRAwebsite. Hope that with this new approach, more not-so-techy people will be encouraged to sign in and interact with fellow artists.

Take more active steps to address job losses, economic crisis, gov't urged

'CONTINGENCY PACKAGE' INSUFFICIENT AMID CRISIS
GOV’T URGED TO TAKE MORE ACTIVE STEPS TO ADDRESS JOB LOSSES, ECONOMIC SLOWDOWN

The government has yet to take real steps to address the adverse effects of the global crisis on the local economy, said research group IBON Foundation.

In an attempt to downplay the economy’s problems and insist on imaginary “sound fundamentals” , the administration calls its efforts a mere “resiliency” or “contingency” plan. However, this eventual package is inadequate, places the burden of adjusting to the crisis on the people, and borders on mere public relations gimmickry, said IBON research head Sonny Africa.

NCCA Trainors Training

Posted by: Nash Anggahan in News

Nash Anggahan
Warm greetings from NCCA!

For the past six months, we have been conducting consultations both within and outside the organization; and especially among members of the various committees and subcommittees on the possibility of forming artists teams composed of Lumad, Moro, and Christian poets, playwrights, composers, choreographers, visual artists, actors and stage directors who would be interested in widening their milieu by conducting creative workshops for victims of man made and natural catastrophes as the crises arise.

A Trainors Training will be conducted in March by seasoned artists from PETA, CCP, and KALAHI who have been doing this kind of work for years. A module will evolve from this workshop which will be tested this year.

Being part of this endeavor will help us find gifted artists among the most deprived sectors of our society, at the same time, give you the opportunity to deepen your grasp and understanding of Philippine realities, which will help you develop into a mature artist.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts' National Committee on Cultural Education (NCCA-NCCEd) announces the convening of a series of island-clustered Forum on Informal, Non-Formal and Alternative Cultural Education (INFACE) on January 8-9 (Cebu City); January 19-20 (Davao City); and January 22-23 (Manila).

The two-day forum series is part of a nationwide constituency- based consultation on previous and current INFACE efforts by community-based artists, cultural workers, educators, local government units, NGO arts councils, and culture-oriented people's organizations. As conceived, the project hopes to mainstream, replicate and support best practices in INFACE program initiatives through the NCCA's Philippine Cultural Education Program (PCEP).

Ang OBRA sa Kalawakan

Posted by: Administrator in News
